The Higher National Diploma course is completed over thirty months. It consists of sixteen units of study most of which are completed on the first year of the course. The Higher National Diploma is assessed by coursework only there are no exams. This coursework is in the form of a number of assignments you must complete. Assignments range from presentations, market research, Interviews and written reports to videos and website design. Students who study the HND need to be well organised and manage their time efficiently to complete the assignments by the deadline, and also to have good social skills to work effectively with their classmates in project teams. You must attend college regularly and also visit hotels to meet with and interview both staff and guests for your coursework. |
|
On completing of the first year units you then start your work experience placement in a hotel where you will apply all of the theory you have learned. Most of our students work in Reception or Food and Beverage during this year and they learn how to deal with guests and how the organisation works. You must also complete course assignments for two units and at the end of the year make a final presentation about your studies to date before you are awarded your Higher National Diploma. |
